Setting up the LaserShield is a simple task. Just plug it into a wall outlet, hook it up to a phone jack, and it's ready for use. It's features include a large panic button that will immediately activate the built in siren, and contact the rapid response monitoring service 24/7. LaserShield reports the fastest response times in the alarm industry at around 30 seconds. The handy keychain remote also features the panic button, and can be used within 100 feet of the device. The built in siren lets loose at a deafening 105 decibel clip, immobilizing and frightening off the majority of intruders without confrontation.
 

The unit features a battery back up in case of power loss, and this can be recharged when necessary. The unit will also notify you when the battery is running low, or if it needs to be replaced.

Each LaserShield starter kit comes with a wireless detection unit, offering 1100 square feet of detection range through infrared sensors that pick up heat and movement. Additional units can be purchased for larger homes. If the unit detects a breach of security, it will immediately contact the rapid response center.

The units also feature a built in user call feature, allowing owners to check the status of their system from any phone, arm or disarm the system, and even listen in on noises within the household through the hidden microphone.

Additional add-ons to increase the effectiveness of your setup

LaserShield has also recently added the Cyclone to their product brand. The cyclone is an addon to the starter kit, allowing it to communicate through the GSM cellular network nationwide. This renders the unit immune to power failure or inoperative/cut phone lines, and also allows anyone without a home phone service to make use of the unit. There is an additional monthly fee for this service.
